Mia Lorick is an associate attorney at Roberts Markel Weinberg Butler Hailey PC and practices in the firm’s trial and appellate groups. Mia completed her undergraduate studies at North Carolina School of the Arts where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance. After completing her undergraduate studies, she attended the University of Houston Law Center where she received her Juris Doctor in 2014.

During law school, Mia had the honor of clerking for the Honorable Judge Smoots-Thomas in the 164th Civil District Court as well as the Honorable Judge Andrew W. Austin in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas.

Mia was also a member of the UHLC Mock Trial and Moot Court teams and received several advocacy awards as a student, including Most Exceptional Advocate at the Georgetown White Collar Mock Trial Competition and Best Speaker at the UHLC Moot Court Intra-Team Competition. Mia also received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Scholarship, which is awarded to one student who exemplifies outstanding ability in courtroom advocacy. Because of her advocacy accomplishments, Mia was inducted into the National Order of the Barristers: a national honor society recognizing exceptional advocacy.

Mia has participated in several jury and bench trials, argued in five appellate oral arguments—including oral argument at the Texas Supreme Court—and has authored/coauthored over twenty appellate briefs.

Mia has been featured on NPR, KHOU, KPRC, Law 360°, and Texas Lawyer following favorable verdicts for her clients. Mia is also a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Deposition Course and was a speaker for the 2018 Advanced Real Estate Law Course as well as the 2018 Advanced Property Owners’ Association Law Course sponsored by the Texas Bar Association.

In addition to her law practice, Mia is the founder and director of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiative and is the Editor-in-Chief of Sharply Suited: a blog that offers career advice for women professionals. Most recently, Mia was named a Woman to Watch by the Houston Business Journal.
